Beatrice Lamwaka is a Global Press Journal reporter based in Kampala, Uganda. She specializes in reporting on gender-based violence. Born and raised in the northern Ugandan city of Gulu, Beatrice studied at Makerere University. She loves to visit the waterfalls across Uganda. In 2011, she was shortlisted for the Caine Prize for African Writing for her short story “Butterfly Dreams.”
