Mexico In Bawits, Tenejapa, a community in Chiapas, Mexico’s southernmost state, Lucia Luna Entzin, 5, helps her family weave a mesh screen that will be reinforced with metal bars and lined with cement to become the base of their ferro-cement rainwater tank. Many homes in indigenous communities of the Chiapas Highlands do not have running water, so families have been coming together to build rainwater tanks and avoid walking, sometimes for hours, to access clean water.
