Faida Maliyamungu’s husband died at a mining site, but she never received any compensation after his death. Her experience is common in Democratic Republic of Congo, where many miners work without contracts. Now, Maliyamungu works in a restaurant in Bukavu, a job she says helps her care for her two children.
