Nirasha Piyawadani joined Global Press in Sri Lanka in 2015. She has worked in Sri Lankan media from 2011 to 2015. She had given up on journalism when the opportunity to be a reporter for Global Press arrived, she says. “Journalism is not just a job, it’s a service you perform with all of your heart and my heart beat was able to start up again!”
Nirasha says after she began reporting for Global Press, for the first time in her journalism career, she understood the responsibility of being a journalist and the need to be accurate and to confirm the truth of every word that is written.
She is also enjoying the experience of being a photojournalist, and thinking visually on her stories for Global Press. “I have had new life breathed into me with this opportunity to be a reporter for GPI,” she says.
