Nepal Empty gas cylinders in front of shops are a common sight in Nepal, where an ongoing blockade along the border with India has made basic necessities scarce. The blockade, which started in September 2015, has pushed prices up: A cylinder of cooking gas on the black market sells for 8000 to 9000 Nepalese rupees ($77-86). The normal rate is 1500 rupees ($14).
