Mexico Dancers from regions throughout Mexico traveled to the southern town of Chiapa de Corzo for the 1a Muestra Nacional de Danzón, to celebrate the danzón style. The rhythmic partner dance originated in Cuba in the late 19th century and is popular in Mexico. This gathering, the first of its kind in Chiapa de Corzo, aimed to preserve danzón and to promote the style.
