Terry Aguayo is a freelance writer, copy editor and translator with wide-ranging experience in the field of journalism and communications. Prior to freelancing, she managed the Miami bureau of The New York Times, covering the state of Florida for the national newspaper. During her eight years with The Times, Terry was involved in the coverage of stories of national significance, including the Elián González and Terri Schiavo cases, and the 2000 presidential election. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Terry writes and edits in both languages, and has extensive translation experience. Prior to joining The New York Times, she worked at The Associated Press bureau in Miami where she served as support to reporters and contributed copy to editors. Terry lives in Miami and holds a journalism degree and a translation studies certification from Florida International University.
