Lourdes Medrano joined the Global Press Journal in 2016 as a translator and fact checker in Spanish. Lourdes lives in the U.S.-Mexico border region and often spends time south of Arizona’s international boundary. She began her journalism career in newspapers and worked for several dailies, including the Star Tribune in Minneapolis and The Arizona Republic in Phoenix. She now freelances for various print and online publications.
When she isn’t writing, editing or translating news stories, she likes to read books in English and Spanish, riding her bike and enjoying the outdoors once the desert heat gives way to cool, breezy weather.
