Katie Myrick joined Global Press Journal in 2018. Before joining Global Press, she worked as a visual journalist for The Washington Post, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Omaha World-Herald and a host of other publications, designing and art directing print pages and producing longform narratives for the web and social media.
Along the way, Katie received two gold medals from the Society for News Design, an international organization founded to advance the mission of visual journalism, as well as 11 silver medals, multiple Awards of Excellence and two full-panel Judges’ Special Recognitions. She also volunteered as editor of SND.org.
While pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University’s Ernie Pyle School of Journalism, Katie interned at The Arizona Republic, St. Louis Post Dispatch and St. Petersburg (now Tampa Bay) Times. She was a Poynter Fellow in 2009.
