Ashwaq Masoodi has been an editor with the Global Press Journal since 2021. She is a longform writer from Kashmir, who most recently was a Nieman fellow at Harvard University. Most of her work has been around covering the lives of the marginalized communities in small towns and villages of India. She did her master's in Magazine Writing from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In 2016, she received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award, the highest award of journalism in India. Prior to this, she received the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award for her work on gender.
