Ann Deslandes is an Australian freelance journalist, writer, editor and researcher. Her reporting has appeared in BBC Global Trade, Ms. magazine, Foreign Policy, The Guardian, PRI's The World and The Adelaide Review. She is passionate about bringing new voices to international reporting and is the creator and author of The Troubled Region, a monthly newsletter that tracks the changing face of foreign correspondence. Ann has a Ph.D. in Gender and Cultural Studies and has taught sociology, gender studies, international studies and Academic English to university students in Australia and Mexico. She is based in Mexico City, where she makes no effort to curb her taco consumption.
