Nepalese migrant workers are increasingly aware of the tricks and manipulation that manpower agencies and brokers use to entrap them into forced labor abroad, but the lure of a job keeps them streaming to Malaysia, Persian Gulf countries and elsewhere. Stories of severely injured workers and families left behind by workers who die abroad have pushed the government to increase insurance requirements for people leaving Nepal to work, with potential payouts that are encouraging more people than ever to take the risk.
