Casey Beck is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, who has spent the last seven years directing and producing independent documentaries while teaching documentary filmmaking. She graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Peace and Justice Studies, and her studies have inspired her interest in covering areas of pre- and post-conflict and conflict resolution and have lead her from as far as Argentina where she contributed to the book Argentina: From the Ruins of a Dirty War to Kiribati, where she directed/produced the award-winning short documentary The Rising Tide: Kiribati. This film details the effects of global warming on this small-island developing nation in the Central Pacific and was the recipient of a Davis United World College Fund 100 Projects for Peace grant. In 2008, Casey received a Fulbright grant to return to Argentina and produce a feature length documentary, Los Famosos (2009). While there, she assisted teaching documentary production classes at both the University of Palermo and also San Salvador University. Her work has been shown in movie theaters across the country and in media outlets as varied as FRONTLINE/World (Mongolia: Land Without Fences, 2007, Reporter/Producer) and ESPN (The Two Escobars, 2010, Production Coordinator).
