Renata joined Global Press Journal as the web editor in 2021 to manage content on globalpressjournal.com and its social media accounts.
Previously, she was the Portuguese editor/community manager and English opportunities editor at the International Journalists’ Network (IJNet) — a website published in eight languages by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ).
A Brazilian-American journalist, she worked for the Wilson Center’s Brazil Institute and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Illinois, where she launched its outreach program.
During graduate school, she was a producer for Global Journalist Radio on KBIA, Mid-Missouri Public Radio, focusing on parts of the world rarely covered in mainstream media.
She has a master’s degree in journalism with a minor in international development from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s degree in journalism/news-editorial, also from Mizzou.
Renata lives in Takoma Park, Maryland, with her husband and two children.
