Mission

Global Press exists to create a more just and informed world by training and employing local female journalists to produce ethical, accurate news coverage from the world’s least-covered places.

Building a Diverse and Inclusive Newsroom

Global Press prioritizes the physical and cognitive diversity of our team. We believe the journalism institutions have a responsibility to pursue diversity to ensure that the people and places they are covering are accurately represented.

"It allows people to own their own voices. It allows people to make decisions. It allows people to participate in issues that are of concern to them. It allows people to be free." - Gertrude Pswarayi, GPJ Zimbabwe

Global Press Reporters

GPJ seems to simultaneously disrupt inequality in the newsroom and in the representation of the people and places it covers. Our reporters come from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds. They represent different races, religions, tribes, castes and generations, which enables them to cover their similarly-diverse communities with knowledge and nuance.

"In order to change the story, we must first change the storyteller."
— Cristi Hegranes, Founder & CEO Global Press
